The person behind the images
Not one to draw attention to myself, I prefer to work quietly behind the camera. That said, it’s worth letting you know a bit about me…after all, I’m going to get to know you!
I shifted my career in psychology research to go study photography back in 2008. I began working as a children and family photographer almost straight away, bringing a fresh, natural approach to my local area. After graduating in 2010, my business had blossomed and I was able to become a full time professional.
Although my style has changed over the years, becoming increasingly organic and simplistic, my approach has stayed the same. I strive to make authentic, emotive images. I’m not looking for cheese faces and technical perfection with no emotion. I’m looking for the person, the family and the connections they have with each other.
I have a small studio in my home in Montrose. It’s flooded with beautiful natural light and perfect for newborn and baby photograph. It’s also equipped with professional lighting and suitable for fine art portraiture. I also love to work outdoors and recommend outdoor sessions for older children and families.
I would say 70% of my work is with newborns, young children and families. The rest is a mix of commercial projects and property photography. I worked as a wedding photographer for 10 years, work which meant long hours away from my family. I am taking a break from wedding work at the moment, but do get in touch if you having a small, intimate wedding.
When I’m not working, I’m running. I started running at the beginning of 2019 as a way to get fitter. I now regularly run 10K and half-marathon distances. My new-found fitness has lots of advantages, running after small children with my camera has become much easier!

“Photographers deal in things which are continually vanishing and when they have vanished there is no contrivance on earth which can make them come back again.”
